2008


The Breakers Gates Restoration


-Rhody Award from the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission and Preserve Rhode Island, which lauded the Preservation Society for "recognizing that restoring the gates to their former glory was an important investment in one of their signature properties and a critical step in preserving the historic character of the streetscape."

The Elms Sunken Garden Restoration


-Garden Club of America award "in gratitude for your outstanding dedication and commitment to the historic preservation and restoration of the sunken garden of The Elms."

2002


The Elms Sunken Garden Restoration


-Historic Preservation Award from the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission: "The restoration project undertaken by the Preservation Society of Newport County is a model for comprehensive analysis and careful restoration."

-Preservation Merit Award from Preserve Rhode Island:  "Not only was this project carried out with the most careful adherence to best preservation practice, but the Society's commitment has resulted in affording the public a beautiful and also interactive example of how architects and garden designers adapted historic traditions to early 20th century American tastes and uses."


-Historic Preservation Award from the Newport Historical Society: "As usual, the Preservation Society sets the highest standard for preservation and restoration. The Preservation Society is to be congratulated on a superb job with the garden, starting with your careful, detailed research. The project was brought to completion with the highest level of skill in a variety of areas, from horticulture to sculpture restoration and reproduction."

2001


Isaac Bell House Restoration


-Preservation Award from the Victorian Society in America: "For the magnificent exterior restoration of the Isaac Bell House and the educational use of the ongoing interior restoration of this exemplary 1883 shingle style residence." 


Save America's Treasures


The Preservation Society was granted unprecedented recognition by the White House Millenium Council and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, with the selection of its ten historic houses as Official Projects of Save America's Treasures.   Richard Moe, President of the National Trust, stated "Newport and Charleston are the bookends of preservation on the East Coast, and I just cannot tell you how much we admire the work the Preservation Society is doing here in Newport."
