$2.7 Million Restoration on The Breakers Completed
Workers have completed the nearly year-long construction project at The Breakers, taking down the scaffolding to reveal the gleaming white limestone beneath, and the new red-toned terra cotta roof.  The $2.7 million project replaced more than 30,000 roof tiles as well as the underlying roof structure; repaired sagging chimneys, windows and door trim; and cleaned and repointed the exterior walls.  Partial funding for the project was provided by the Loebs Family Foundation, Save America's Treasures, the Champlin Foundations and the Aletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust.  In addition, more than 450 individuals paid $20 each for the privilege of signing a roof tile.
